President Donald Trump announced a reward of $1 million for individuals who report voter fraud, provided their information leads to an arrest and a subsequent conviction. The offer covers fraudulent activity in previous elections as well as the midterm contests scheduled for November 2026.

The president detailed the terms in a post on Truth Social on Monday. He wrote that anyone reporting fraud in past elections or the upcoming 2026 Midterm Election would receive the payment upon the arrest and conviction of the responsible parties. He concluded the post by thanking the public for their attention to the matter.

Trump reinforced the proposal while speaking to reporters before boarding Air Force One for a campaign rally in Mississippi. He described the payment as a bonus or reward for anyone whose report results in the arrest and conviction of a person. The statement came as he prepared to travel for campaign events.

The administration has not disclosed a method for funding these payouts. The White House received a request for comment from The Guardian regarding the financial mechanics of the program.

These remarks arrive ahead of the November elections and follow repeated claims by the president regarding widespread voter irregularities. Earlier this month, Democratic state attorneys general expanded their coordination efforts to counter potential federal interference in the voting process. This move reflects growing concerns over the administration's stance on election integrity.

California Attorney General Rob Bonta criticized the Trump administration's efforts to restrict alleged noncitizen voting. He accused the administration of politicizing and weaponizing the law in its pursuit of these claims.

A similar reward program occurred in 2020 when Texas Lieutenant Governor Dan Patrick offered a $25,000 bounty for election fraud tips. Patrick stated at the time that he supported efforts to identify fraud and ensure every legal vote was counted. The first payout under that initiative went to Eric Frank, a Democratic poll worker in Pennsylvania. His tip led to the conviction of a 72-year-old Republican who voted twice, once in his own name and once in his son's name, according to a 2021 report by the Washington Post.
