Island Transit updated its employment section on its website to outline the details of a bus driver position. The agency describes the role as a way to help residents and visitors move around the community safely.

The job posting states that drivers receive competitive pay, benefits, and opportunities for growth. It emphasizes that the position offers a stable, long-term career path for those interested in transportation.

Applicants need a valid Washington State driver's license with a clean record for the last five years. They must be able to pass a Department of Transportation physical and a drug test. Island Transit pays for the training and testing required to obtain a Class B Commercial Driver’s License, so candidates do not need one to apply.

The agency prohibits the use of marijuana and other illegal drugs while employed. Candidates who meet these requirements may be invited to take a video aptitude test to qualify for an interview.

As of this week, the website lists no currently open positions. Job seekers are asked to check back regularly for future openings. Applications must be submitted through the agency's online link, which also allows users to create an application account.

Island Transit identifies itself as an equal opportunity employer. People who need a reasonable accommodation during the application process can contact the Human Resources department at humanresources@islandtransit.org or by phone at (360) 678-7771.
