Island Transit Converts Two On Demand Zones to Fixed Routes
Changes effective September 27, 2026, alter service in zones 6 and NASWI while separating Whidbey and Camano guides.

Island Transit revised its route structure effective September 27, 2026, converting two on demand zones into fixed routes.
The transit agency issued updated guides that split previous materials into separate booklets for Whidbey and Camano Island. These updates reflect structural changes to how service is delivered across the county.
On Demand Zone 6 and the On Demand NASWI area now operate as fixed routes. Zones 3 and 58 continue to function as on demand services. The remaining on demand service allows riders to request transportation at marked stop locations within designated service areas. Rides may be shared with other passengers, including Paratransit users, if they travel in the same direction. The service is reservation only and requires same day requests with at least two hours notice. Last reservations for same day pick up are accepted by 4 p.m., and riders can schedule trips up to two weeks in advance.
Island Transit provides three methods for scheduling rides: calling dispatch at 360-678-7771, using a web link, or downloading a mobile application. The agency is currently updating the app and asks riders who need assistance to contact dispatchers directly. Paratransit riders are advised to contact dispatch for specific information regarding their service.
The updated routes and schedules are available for download from the transit agency’s distribution channels.
